My mother was baking sourdough bread. Both my mom and her sister, my Aunt Isabel. I was baking ordinary yeast bread and sometimes the bread would not rise properly.

Let mixture sit overnight in a warm place. My oven has a proofing setting. In the morning, stir mixture, then measure out one cup of starter to save for the next time.
