I've always liked baking and cooking and I wanted to try out sourdough.

She's pretty sour and tou can see the different flours that have been mixed in her overtime but I like making discard recipes and bread with her. It's good even when I mess the recipe up.

I use my starter more in the winter, but I try to feed the yeasty Beasty at least a couple times a week. In between feeds I pop it in the fridge if I'm not planning to use it the next day.

To create my starter I referenced a guide that said to grate an organic apple and add that to your starter to help encourage the wild yeast to grow more.

To make the starter I used white white wheat flour, but now when I feed I use rye, white wheat, or all purpose.

I match the amount of flour I used with water to complete the feed. I only used distilled water.

Result

Standard sandwich bread

This is my go to sandwich style bread, baked in a tin. I use a combo of wheat and all purpose flour and seeds on top.

Pizza dough

Friday night pizzas are a tradition in my house, I use the sourdough to make a batch the day before. Makes two crusts.
